This blog highlights the final act of my concert night featuring the band, Tower of Power, and what a night it was.

For those of you not familiar with the band, Tower of Power is a legendary American band known for its dynamic blend of funk, soul, R&B, and jazz, with a horn section that is second to none. The band was formed in Oakland, California in 1968 by Emilio Castillo and Stephen "Doc" Kupka and has been a staple of the West Coast music scene for over five decades.

Tower of Power is world-renowned for its horn section which has performed with artists Elton John, Aerosmith, Little Feat, Phish, and Santana. Their music is a mix of tight horn arrangements, powerful vocals, and funky grooves. The rhythm section is known for its precision, often compared to James Brown’s band in terms of tightness and energy. They give homage to James Brown near the end of their show.

Here's a little taste of what you'll hear from Tower of Power. Let's start with "We Came to Play and Souled Out." Jordan John is the lead vocalist.

Tower of Power performs You Ought to be Having Fun.

Tower of Power performs Soul Vaccination.

Tower of Power performs I Like Your Style.

Tower of Power performing You're the Most.

Tower of Power performs You're Still a Young Man.

Tower of Power performs Don't Change Horses (In the Middle of a Stream).

Tower of Power performs This Time It's Real.

The few pictures taken during the show. The music was back to back and so good.

Introduction of Band Members.

As I mentioned earlier, many say that the horn section remind them of James Brown's horn section and Tower of Power pays homage to JB with the next three songs.

Diggin' on James Brown.

I Got the Feeling.

Now back to one of my favorite songs by Tower of Power which is So Very Hard to Go.

Last, but not least, Tower of Power ended the show with two of their all time favorites - What is Hip? and Soul Power.

Again, many of us wanted a little more to remember the night by and they obliged by having numerous items for sale.

This concert was one for the books and I'm extremely thankful for the complimentary tickets and great seats provided by Soaring Eagle Resort and Casino. However, that show was so good I would have purchased tickets.
