South Africa 2023 - Cape Town - Day 1 - We Made It

Cape Town, South Africa - Day 1

We arrived at Cape Town International Airport early in the morning. After collecting our luggage we were taken to buses that were awaiting our arrival and whisked to our hotel.

For the next four nights, the Taj Cape Town would serve as our home away from home and this was a wonderful location right in the heart of Cape Town. The Taj Cape Town is a five star hotel with all the amenities you would expect. Because of the mistake made for those of us that could not check into our rooms right away, and the diligence of our travel hosts, JaVonne and Gene Harley of Advantage International, LLC, we were offered complimentary access to the hotel lounge for our stay, complimentary services at the Jiva Spa, and a complimentary meal voucher up to R100. https://www.tajhotels.com/en-in/taj/taj-cape-town

The Taj Cape Town was located within the St. George's Mall section of town and we walked around to see what the area had and also what the vendors were selling.

Also across from a different entrance to the Taj Cape Town is the Mandela Rhodes Building. More on this building later.

After getting back to the room and freshening up, it was time for the private meet and greet gathering of the Michael Baisden Travel Club.

For those who have followed me from the beginning, you might remember my inaugural blog posts featuring Dubai and Abu Dhabi. That was from the inaugural trip of the Michael Baisden Travel Club. Traveling with Michael Baisden is guaranteed to be a fun-filled, out of the ordinary experience. And while the cost may be a bit more than other travel groups, the added attention provided by Michael and Advantage International, LLC cannot be beat. Advantage International, LLC

I cannot say enough about JaVonne and Gene Harley, co-owners of Advantage International, LLC. They are the dynamic duo and I fell in love with them when I booked my first trip through them. They are knowledgeable, responsive and well equipped to handle any and all of your traveling needs. I also highlighted them in my first blog and have provided that link if you would like to go back and review that blog: https://www.edeeonthego.com/post/advantage-international-llc

Here are a few pictures of some of the travel crew, including a couple of my travel sisters that I met in that inaugural trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. You may see them a lot during the next eight days of pictures and videos.

Angela and Michael. Angela calls me Ladybug and it has stuck with me.

Her name is Culbrinia but I call her Brini and she lets me. She and Angela are sisters.

This is Annette. She is certainly going to be my new retail therapy travel sister now that I know about her shop and she is willing to ship.

Janice, Teresa and Dawn. And yes, the food was as good as it looks!

Brini, Angela and Annette. Annette is their relative.

Our entertainment for the evening was Saxophonist Extraordinaire Don Vino. He is well known around Cape Town and those smooth tunes did not disappoint us travel club attendees.

If you like jazz, check him out on the videos below.

What an exhilarating first day in Cape Town. While this was my second visit to Cape Town, this was the beginning of many new adventures this time around.

Stay tuned for Day 2. Day 2 is going to be crazy busy and begins with a visit to Table Mountain. If you are new to the blog site, feel free to click here to subscribe and/or view prior posts: https://www.edeeonthego.com/link-tree

Until our next time......
