Dubai, United Arab Emirates Part II

There was so much to do in Dubai that I had to make two blog posts for this wondrous locale.

Dubai Expo 2020

The Dubai Expo 2020 was a world expo hosted by Dubai from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2020 but was postponed due to Covid-19. Despite being postponed, organizers kept the name Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes. It is estimated that 24 million people visited the expo. The expo hosted 192 counties and had over 60 shows everyday. There were over 200 restaurants for every type of cuisine. The motto was Connecting Minds, Creating the Future. If you'd like more information, visit www.expo2020dubai.com .

Below are a few videos and pictures taken at the expo. I will also share some snippets of the presentation the United States had at the expo.

Walking into the Expo

The United States of America Presentation at Dubai Expo 2020. I was extremely proud of our presentation. You stood on a moving walkway and you traveled though our displays. The Vice President of the United States did the welcome.

They were amazing to watch. The entire expo was an amazing event.

Dune Bashing

I was too busy holding on to any and everything in the vehicle and with my head down to take any pictures. Needless to say, doing this one is not for the faint at heart. However, I did get to touch and feel the hot desert sand so here is a video and a few pics.

Desert Safari Dinner

After Dune Bashing, we had an evening dinner at this beautiful location. The food was great and the entertainment certainly kept our attention.

This one gets good at about 1:50 but feel free to enjoy the entire video.

My First (and likely last) Camel Ride

No trip to the desert would be complete without a camel ride......yes I did!!!

Jumeirah Grand Mosque

Souk Madinat Jumeirah

The Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a bazaar in traditional Middle Eastern style providing shopping and dining opportunities next to the iconic Burj Al Arab, a luxury five-star hotel.

The Dubai Marina

Ain Dubai

Have you ever been on the world's tallest Ferris wheel? Me Neither!!! But some of the travel crew took this opportunity to do just that. The Ain Dubai Ferris Wheel rises to an astonishing 820 feet and has 48 cabins with a total capacity to hold 1,750 people. This attraction truly pushes the limits of engineering. It provides visitors with a 360 degree view of Dubai's skyline and takes over 30 minutes to make a full rotation.

Atlantis The Palm (www.atlantis.com/dubai)

We had a wonderful buffet lunch in a private area. The food was delicious and the views were spectacular. Our location had us nestled between those who wanted to dine in the air and those who wanted to play in the sky. Check out the scenery.

Our VIP Tour Guide throughout our entire stay, Manish.

Zero Gravity and Skydive Dubai

To the right of where we dined was a venue with a little bit of something for everyone. Zero Gravity has a beach, restaurant, lounge, pool, garden and music. It is a leisure and entertainment hotspot just inches away from Skydive Dubai's famous drop zone. Skydive Dubai is just that. See the videos. www.0-gravity.ae www.skydivedubai.ae

Dinner in the Sky

Dinner in the Sky is a breathtaking fine dining experience in Dubai. Selected by Forbes.com in its list of the 10 most unusual restaurants in the world, it is one of the most unique dining experiences one can have. Located in Sky Dive Dubai, a table is suspended by a crane 50 meters high while you indulge in unique scenery and luxurious dining. Before you ask - No I did not! www.dinnerinthesky.ae

When we were leaving for our next stop, we just happened to look over and see this green car riding on top of the water.

The View at the Palm (www.theviewpalm.ae)

A sight to behold. Entertainment as we walk to the beginning of the exhibit.

The Vision for the View at the Palm

Not the best video but a little more info

The next few videos will show various views from the observation deck of the Palm.

Dhow Dinner Cruise

Our last night in Dubai was capped with an evening cruise from the Dubai Marina through the Dubai Creek. We were treated to live entertainment and a wonderful buffet dinner. Michael visited with each guests at each table and gave a heartwarming speech before we ended our night and our time together. We danced and ate and said our goodbyes until the next time we see each other which I expect to honestly see some of my new friends on future trips with the Michael Baisden Travel Club and/or with Advantage International LLC.
