Mark one off my bucket list. Dubai, here I am.
I had heard many people who had visited Dubai talk about how beautiful it was so I added it to my bucket list. Well in February 2022, I got to see it for myself and it is even more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. This inaugural blog post is dedicated to Dubai and I have many pictures and experiences to share with you.
For those who have never heard of Dubai, here's a little bit of history. Once a small fishing village in the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is today one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. One of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, the city is home to more than 200 nationalities and offers an unforgettable experience to all visitors. Whether it is by the banks of the Creek, or at the top of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, Dubai lives and breathes a sense of possibility and innovation. And with an unparalleled coastline, beautiful desert and magnificent cityscapes, memories are just waiting to be made here. I had so much fun that I plan to go back again. Below are pictures from my flight to Dubai from John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. I decided to treat myself to an upgrade to Business Class. It was well worth every cent for the almost 13 hour flight. While I'm normally a Delta girl, Emirates Airlines was the bomb. Pictures from left to right include my pod complete with tablet-controlled tv and amenities, a glass of champagne to start the flight out, a gold toiletry bag with essentials, including socks, dinner to include butternut squash soup, salad, roll, and a chicken entrée, a star-lit cabin for those who wanted to sleep, a hearty breakfast as you can see, and the approach into Dubai at night.

SLS Hotel (www.sbe.com/hotels/sls-hotels/dubai)
The hotel chosen by the travel club I visited the UAE with is the SLS Hotel. It was the first time I had stayed at a SLS property but I tell you it did not disappoint. The hotel was very chic and I was fortunate to get a room that had an exceptional view. I've included a video and a few pics for you.

The S Bar Dubai is located in the Sky Lobby on the 71st Floor of the SLS. It is a chic bar that offers an impressive list of cocktails.

The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. It has amazing views over the city and the desert and is located in the world's largest mall - The Dubai Mall.

In addition to housing the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall is known for its amazing shopping, as well as other attractions including an Olympic-size ice rink (in the desert), an Underwater Zoo and the Dubai Aquarium. The mall is humungous with over 1,200 retail stores and over 200 international dining experiences. It has over 100 million visitors every year. Below are a few views from inside the mall. While visiting the Gold Souk (marketplace) in Dubai, I had the opportunity to view the largest gold ring in the world as verified by the Guinness Book of World Records.
