There is nothing like experiencing Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA). This blog contains pictures and videos from our experience on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

This picture is of the musician playing upon our arrival at Louis Armstrong International Airport followed by a short video of that good jazz he was providing.

And now the music.

Off to our hotel to drop off our bags and get into those NOLA (New Orleans Louisiana if you didn't know) streets. Floats, floats and more floats. We had to walk a few blocks as the streets were closed due to the parades. Then we had to wait for the parades to end before we could cross the streets. Here are a few videos taken while we waited.

Finally, we can see the end of the parade and floats. I'll be glad to get checked in so we don't have to watch our luggage in addition to ducking and dodging the beads being thrown.

Street views from our hotel room. Once we were settled in, we headed for the streets.

Time to grab something to eat and then back to watch the nighttime parades.

Low and behold, look at who is King of the Baccrus Parade?

If you've never been to Mardi Gras it is something to behold. As floats go by hands go up to try to catch whatever is being thrown by those on the floats.

Are you a Slingshot fan?

What a pleasant surprise to see Michigan represented by the Petosky Steel Drum Band.

Floats, Floats and More Floats. These floats are so colorful at night.

My son-in-law, Antonio Sr., showing off his recent catch with his Michigan color beads.

The last two of the night. What a day it has been.

This is our catch of beads for our first night of Mardi Gras as well as our other items.

Hope you enjoyed this first day of pictures and videos from my experience at Mardi Gras 2025. Come back for our second day for more sights and sounds.
